one heluva update

Good lord, I'm certainly not the best blogger the world has ever seen. Ah well. I guess then that this post will be just one big update.

Cuckoo's Nest, as I said before, went well. We averaged about a half full house I think (don't quote me on that). I had mixed feelings about it closing. It was such a fun character to play, but I was exhausted and stressed out of my mind by the end of it due to being the costumer's assistant. It was one of the few productions I've been a part of where I was treated like an actress and not some sweet, clueless child and so I think (as cheesy as it sounds) it won't be one I'm soon to forget.

Here are a couple slideshows our Scanlon made of the photos taken during the last dress rehearsal.

Sadly, it wasn't my night to rehearse, but if you just look at all the photos of this lovely lady and pretend they're me, you'll get a pretty good idea of what I did.

Odd Couple opened two weekends ago, so it's just this coming weekend left. I'll be quite sad to see this one go. It's been such a fun ride. Everyone in the cast and crew get along so well, I feel like all we ever do is laugh. Since there's not much else to do for the all but ten minutes I'm not on stage, my fellow pigeon and I goof off and attempt to make the guys laugh (while they're on stage, of course). I won't go into our antics here, as I'm not sure which of my young cousins will read this. I'll just say that we're quite hilarious and leave it at that. ;)

Christmas Carol opens the weekend after Odd Couple closes. It's been a bit of a rough ride with this one, but I think it's pulling itself together. By opening night I'll think we'll have a smoothly running machine and enough Christmas spirit to kill Santa Claus. The nerd in me is quite excited about the costumes for this one, even if they span a good three hundred years of fashion history. Ah well, that's the joy of community theatre.

I bombed my Bye Bye Birdie auditons. No, I'm not being modest, seriously, it was one of the worst auditions I've ever given. Not surprisingly, I didn't get cast. The cast is full of some of my favorite people though, and I'm looking forward to being an audience member. I decided not to audition for Lion in Winter as... (drum roll please) I got into Cats!! It's one of my favorite directors and several favorite people are in the cast as well others who I've heard so much about and can't wait to act alongside. I'm only ensemble for this one, as this is not exactly the sort of show I'm cut out for, but I'm just happy to be a part of it (there I go being all cheesy again). And oh by the way, Josiah got the part of Mr. Mistoffelees! In case you're not familiar with the show, here's the song.

Yeah, super excited for him! He'll be the cutest little kitten ever. Besides how kick-ass will it look to have on his resume that he played Mistoffelees at the age of fifteen?!
